One of our most common renovations involves the expansion of the back of a house for the purpose of enlarging and remodeling the kitchen. The Helgesen kitchen project takes that renovation a step further by creating additional living spaces outdoors.
With the additional space, the kitchen was redesigned to include a 4’ x 8’ granite-topped island, plenty of room to easily accommodate a number dinner guests and cooks at the same time, and easy access to the new living spaces outside.
The new double French doors lead outdoors to a 15’ x 15’ deck with a gorgeous custom arbor. The arbor provides shade and shelter for outdoor grilling and watching activities in the yard. The deck wraps along the back of the house, tying the new construction together, and ends with a 15’ x 20’ screened-in porch for outdoor entertaining. With direct access to the kitchen, the screened-in porch, kitchen and outdoor deck encompass the new living arrangements and a new lifestyle.
